Statement sunglasses are a way to inject instant glamour into a spring or summer outfit, without the wearer having to turn to heels or eye makeup.
For stylist Jess Cartner-Morley, the ability to take a ‘selfie’ with your camera is a big plus when it comes to purchasing sunglasses. Sunglasses are not cheap, so it’s important you find the right style for your face. Your phone can come in handy for this, as looking in the mirror doesn’t always give you the right impression.
Statement sunglasses may cop some bad press in the media but, as Cartner-Morley suggested, wearing statement sunglasses with even the plainest of outfits can see you stepping out like a movie star.
They add an instant touch of glamour and look great regardless of whether you are wearing a structured dress or a vest and shorts.
One look that is currently proving popular is the oversized square look – think 3D glasses. They can take a bit of getting used to, but add a fun, retro look to your outfit.
Prints are trending right now, as well as perspex. Emerald green is another good choice.
